Permanent magnets come in several different types of magnetic material and Neodymium, or Rare Earth Magnets as they are otherwise known, are the strongest magnets. Neodymium ring magnets are an often overlooked shape of magnet however there are some industries that rely heavily on the circular magnetic pole of a rare earth ring. Speakers, solar power devices and even scientific instruments all rely on the unique properties of ring magnets. The volume overall of magnet material is reduced due to the hole through the centre of a ring magnet and therefore the strength of a ring shaped magnet is less than that of a disc of the same outer dimension.
